Start Your Journey in Software Development

Welcome to Jon Develops, the space where I share my learning journey in the world of software development.

Why Start Something New?

We've all felt the desire to start something from scratch—learning a new skill, changing careers, or simply exploring an area that has always caught our attention. However, we've also faced the doubts that paralyze us: Will I be capable? Am I starting too late? Where do I begin?

You can wait indefinitely for the perfect moment, or you can take action right away and make today the first day of your new journey. And that is exactly what I have chosen to do!

Focus: Software Development and Extreme Programming

My focus is on the world of software development, especially agile methodologies like Extreme Programming (XP). This approach emphasizes principles such as collaboration, high-quality code, and continuous improvement. Some of the practices I will be exploring and sharing include:

  • Test-Driven Development (TDD): Writing tests before code to ensure quality and minimize errors.
  • Pair Programming: Working together with another developer to share ideas and learn faster.
  • Refactoring: Continuously improving code to make it cleaner and more efficient.

My Philosophy: From Zero to Hero

My journey is inspired by the famous song from Disney’s movie “Hercules.” Hercules starts as a beginner. He isn’t born knowing everything—what sets him apart is his perseverance, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

In this space, I will share all the tools, resources, and insights that accompany me on my journey. Books, podcasts, videos, techniques, and practices that I find useful will be here—not just to document my progress, but also to inspire and help others who are starting or looking to improve.

Will You Join the Journey?

So here I am, sharing my day one with you. If you're interested in software development, continuous learning, or simply want to accompany me on this journey, this is the place for you. I invite you to explore the resources I'll be sharing and, most importantly, to start your own journey.

Remember: You don’t have to be good to start, but you have to start to be good. Welcome to Jon Develops!
